Repair, refurbishment & Extension of a Grade II listed cottage outside Cambridge

CAMAL architects worked on the repair and refurbishment of this thatched cottage in a village outside Cambridge. The cottage required extensive timber frame repairs as well as the removal and replacement of the modern cement based render with a traditional lime based one.

Our practice also designed and gained planning permission for a timber cruck framed extension to the rear of the property. In order to satisfy stringent conservation requirements and maintain an appropriate relationship with the existing buildings on the site the extension was set in to the ground creating a semi-basement level which housed 2 additonal bedrooms and a bathroom
